Why I'm doing this

The people who read Pound & Paisa are financially sophisticated. You earn in pounds, you think in rupees, you're building wealth across two countries. You're exactly the kind of person financial content is rarely built for — and yet you navigate it every day.

The girls Nanhi Kali supports are on the other end of that spectrum. Same country. Completely different starting point. No access to quality education. No path to the kind of financial independence you're building.

I can't fix that inequality. But I can make sure that every pound this site earns — from your membership, from affiliate links you click, from anything — has a direct, traceable line back to a girl in India getting an education she otherwise wouldn't have.

That felt like the right thing to build.

What your membership actually does

Vague giving pledges are easy. "A portion of profits" means nothing — it could be Ā£1 a year. Here's exactly what the numbers look like:

Ā£1.99
From every monthly membership. Your £9.99/month means £1.99 goes to Nanhi Kali every single month, automatically.
Ā£15.99
From every annual membership. Pay Ā£79.99/year and Ā£15.99 of it funds girls' education in India — nearly a full term of support.
10 members
Means Ā£19.90 donated every month — enough to cover one girl's full educational support for a year.
100 members
Means Ā£199 every month going to Nanhi Kali — funding the continuous education of around 10 girls.

Who is Nanhi Kali?

Nanhi Kali means "little bud" in Hindi. It's a Mahindra-backed initiative that has been educating underprivileged girls across India since 1996 — one of the largest and most credible girls' education programmes in the country.

Nanhi Kali — The Mahindra Foundation
Project Nanhi Kali
  • Supports girls in grades 6–10 across underserved communities in India
  • Provides academic support, 21st century skills training, and sports education
  • Delivers essential school supplies so financial constraints don't force girls to drop out
  • Backed by the Mahindra Foundation — one of India's most trusted corporate foundations
  • UK donations go via The Mahindra Foundation UK on JustGiving — fully transparent and Gift Aid eligible

I chose Nanhi Kali specifically because of the Mahindra connection — it's not a small charity with unknown governance. It's a well-run, large-scale programme with decades of track record. And the cause felt personally right: a UK-based NRI helping educate the next generation of girls in India through a programme backed by one of India's most respected names.

You can read more about the programme at their JustGiving page.

The transparency is everything

Anyone can make a giving pledge. The whole point of this one is that you don't have to take my word for it.

How the verification works
Every donation is independently verifiable
  1. Every donation is made publicly through The Mahindra Foundation UK on JustGiving — a public page anyone can view
  2. Each donation appears in the log below with the date, amount, and a direct link to the JustGiving receipt
  3. The running total on this page is updated within 7 days of each donation being made
  4. If you ever feel the numbers don't add up, email me directly — investingwhizz@gmail.com — and I will show you the full income breakdown

I'm not doing this anonymously or via a private bank transfer. Every donation goes through JustGiving precisely because it creates a public, timestamped record that anyone can check. That accountability is the whole point.

Donation log

This log will be updated publicly with every donation made — date, amount, and a direct link to the JustGiving receipt so you can verify it independently. The first entry will appear here once Pound & Paisa generates its first income.

Donations are made quarterly. The 20% is calculated on gross income before any platform fees.
